Synthesis Gas Market-Global Trends and Forecast to 2018

What is Syngas ?

Syngas stands for Synthesis gas. Fuel gas mixture comprising of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and hydrogen is generally known as syngas. The term "syngas" has evolved from its use as an intermediate in generating synthetic natural gas (SNG) and to create methanol or ammonia. It has 50% of the energy density of natural gas. So syngas is used to produce and synthesize other helpful chemicals. Syngas is also used an intermediate in creating synthetic petroleum to use as a lubricant or fuel.

Syngas Production Techniques :

The syngas is obtained by gasification of a fuel containing high proportion of carbon to a gaseous product that has specific heating value. The major techniques include :

  • Gasification of carbon-rich feedstock (Natural gas, coal, biomass/waste and heavy oil) at high temperature.
  • Steam and auto-thermal reformation of coke.
  • Waste emissions to energy gasification.

Syngas Market :

Syngas is gaining  firm stand in worldwide owing to the factors such as huge demand for sustainable energy sources and strict carbon emissions laws which have made the syngas producing companies to look for renewable energy sources to enforce the future activities.

Classification of Syngas Market :

  • Based on Geography :

  1. Asia-Pacific (Current leading Market)
  2. North America
  3. Africa and Middle East
  4. Europe
  5. South America

  • Based on Applications :

  1. Chemicals and chemical intermediates
  2. Liquid and gaseous fuels
  3. Fertilizers
  4. Solvents
  5. Power generation.

But the major application are in chemicals, liquid fuels, gaseous fuels and power generation .

Syngas Market Trends and Forecast:

Syngas manufacturing companies are seeking new renewable sources to produce chemicals and their derivatives to reduce the dependency on the depleting non-renewable resources like crude oil. further more use of waste and biomass for syngas production is trending globally taking into account the environment sustainability.

The synthesis gas and and its derivatives market is expected to reach 117,400 MW thermal by 2018 at a Compound Annual Growth Rate of 8.7%. Asia-Pacific is the current leading market in terms of consumption followed by North-America.

Dietary Fibers- Applications and Global Market Forecasts to 2017

Today, the  global awareness about health has led to a great interest in food constituents like dietary fibers in recent decades which now drives the development of a large market for fiber-rich products and ingredients.

What are Dietary Fibers ?

A food constituent or the indigestible part of the food that is derived mostly form plants and sometimes from waste of animals are called dietary fibers. They are also known as roughage.
Dietary fiber consists of non-digestible complex carbohydrates like such as cellulose, beta-glucans,, inulin, lignin, dextrins and pectins.

Types of Dietary Fibers :

  • Soluble Fibers : Soluble dietary fibers are food components that dissolve in water. It changes as it pushes through the digestive system, absorbing water along the way where it fermented by bacteria and easing bowel movements. It converts into gelatinous as it absorbs water in digestive tract.Good sources of soluble fibers include seeds and oats, fruits, vegetables, legumes, lentils, soybeans etc.
  • Insoluble Fibers : Insoluble dietary fibers are food components that does not dissolve in water. It remains intact as it goes through the digestive tract. Good sources of insoluble fibers include cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin along with whole grains

Benefits of Dietary Fibers on Health :

  • Reduce high cholesterol levels.
  • Promote bowel regularity.
  • Normalize blood sugar levels.

The increasing health issues such as obesity and cardiac disorders have led to shift focus to consumption of  more fiber-rich food which in turn have given a great impetus to dietary fibers market to grow in recent years.

The Dietary Fibers Market is segmented into two broad categories based on :

Applications:

Geography :

The market is dived into major regions like North America, Europe, Asia Pacific and Rest of World (ROW).

Market Trends and Forecast :

The  present industries are focusing more on the application of dietary fibers in food industry. The current market trend seems to be influenced by amount of dietary food consumption of the consumers. The food manufacturers in market are shifting gears to produce more fiber-rich food complementary to added fibers food.

The key players in  global dietary Fiber market are ADM (U.S.), Danisco USA Inc. (U.S.), Cargill, Inc. (U.S.), Roquette Freres (France), Tate & Lyle Plc (U.K.), Ingredion Inc. (U.S.), SAS Nexira (France), Sensus B.V. (The Netherlands) and SunOpta Inc. (Canada) amongst many others.

The Global dietary Fiber Market is expected to reach worth worth $3.25 Billion by 2017 at compound annual growth rate of 14 % . The North America leads the market in terms of consumption and market share by revenue followed by Europe. Asia-Pacific is expected to be most promising market in coming years.
